"I know all model airport enthusiasts have gone mad lately with this one! The spectacular lighting effects have left us all at an awe!"

Welcome

Fedway International Terminal
Whilst Federal Way International Airport is fictitious, Federal Way as a place certainly exists. 40 or so years ago it was a sleepy suburb of Seattle, on the west coast of the United States. Today it is a large town in its own right. Mark knows this area well as his Aunt and Uncle have lived there at least that long.
So begin our voyage of discovery as we thought it was high-time an airport should be built to serve this thriving community. Plans were really quite modest as we started with the small terminal building from Gemini Jets which Martin already had, but within a week we had both got the bug and scoured the web for the much rarer three stage terminal from Gemini, which whilst hard to come by, was sourced in new and boxed condition – what a find.

We should point out that the driving force for this airport was actually model railways. Martin discovered a relatively new scale, called T-Gauge. The scale is 1:450 which slots in perfectly between the Gemini Jets models (at 1:400) and the Herpa range (at 1:500).
Mark had already seen and downloaded a complete collection of cardboard skyscraper models from the web and spent a marathon 48 hours, working almost solidly to build 26 buildings. They are actually built to half scale, as if they were built at 1:400th scale, some would be over two real feet tall.

So it begins...."
So it begins, and thanks to a lot of digging around on the web, we have found many useful resources for custom airport designs and buildings.
Many of these are free, and most others offer value-for-money easily downloadable designs for airport runways, aprons, and buildings. Please take a look at our links section to find out more.

We hope you enjoy following the step-by-step development of Federal Way International Airport and can share in our enjoyment of the building of this airport, railway and city complex.
